PRE SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT ERA REFER
to the period immedeiately preceding the scientific management movement started by F.W .TAYLOR and his associates. During the pre scientific management era many pionneers made scientific contribution.They were ROBERT OWEN, CHARLES BABES,HENERY VENURE POOR ,HANERY ROBINSON, JAMES WATT, CAPTAIN HENRY METCALF.
ROBERT OWEN :
He managed a group of textile mill il New lanark(scotland) during 1800-1828).He carried out experiment and introduce social reforms..he belives the idea that workers should be treated as human being.he suggested that the investment in human resources was more profitable then in physical resources like machinery etc.He introduce new ideas of human relationship,eg shorter working hour,housing facilities,education of their children, training of workers etc.His ideas and philospy may be may be considered as prelude to the developement of behavioural approach to management.
